Motto: Freedom Is A Good Ask
Shilpa switched professions, from organic chemistry to psychology, after having seen how effective counselling has been in her life. She has been active (and continues to be so) in the areas concerning the residues of child sexual abuse in adult life and its impact on all domains of one's life and function. She is part of a group that has co-created a performance piece on the same issue, called 'Positively
Shameless'. It is a devised ensemble theatre performance based on aspects of Child Sexual Abuse (CSA) that endure into adulthood. It interweaves personal narrative with social commentary to create a playful, dramatic act of resistance and revelation that challenges the shame and silence that often surrounds survivors.
Shilpa ensures that her well-being is taken care of by undergoing personal therapy. She also has a strong support network of friends and family as well as two dogs that
are highly therapeutic for her. Further, her relationship with God and the church community, she believes, aids in her well-being. She also enjoys swimming to stay physically fit.
She makes use of Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Attachment Framework, Internal Family Systems (IFS) and body work, in her therapy sessions with clients. Shilpa is comfortable taking her sessions in English and Hindi and is currently under the
supervision of Poornima Mahindru.
